COCHIN INSIGHTS

Mattancherry Palace
Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutuch Palace is one of the prime tourist attractions of Kochi. It was originally built by the Portuguese in 1557 and then was gifted to Raja Veera Kerala Varma, the ruler of Cochin. Later, in the year 1663, it was renovated by the Dutch. This palace is an excellent timeless example of Portuguese architecture with Oriental touch, which makes it a unique architectural marvel. The significant highlight of this palace is the outstanding collection of mural paintings, depicting events from Ramayana, Mahabharata and Puranas.

Fort Kochi

Fort Kochi is an extremely popular historical town of Kerala and one of the main attractions of Cochin. The region still bears the influence Dutch, Portuguese and British times in its architecture. Though the place is extremely popular amidst the visiting tourists but it still has been able to keep its serenity intact, which is its main highlight.

Jew Town
Jew town is the center of city’s spice trade and is also a busy port area. Located in the Mattancherry area, it is quite popular for housing shops, selling some great antiques. The streets are lined with colonial-styled buildings giving it an old-world feel. Actually, the Jew town is a street between the Jewish Synagogue and Mattancherry Palace.
